Go by Bike
With warmer weather upon us, think about using the bicycle for some routine light errands like picking up mail at the post office or buying just a few items from the grocery store.
The bike may not always be faster than a car in our rural area, but it combines exercise, fun and practicality in one errand.
Biking to work combines exercise and commuting. It won't work for everyone, but it might work for you. It might not work every day, but it could work some days, saving you money on gas and car maintenance, and helping you stay in shape.
A rack and some bags will make your bike a better load-hauler. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a sturdy rack (about $30-40) and some panniers that hang off the sides of it ($35 and UP). You might find cheaper racks, but they won't hold up well.
Try to think of how many places you could go by bike. It's a different way to see the familiar countryside or explore roads you haven't seen.
